श्री हनुमान चालीसा (With English Meaning)
॥ दोहा ॥
श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि।
बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि॥
बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।
बल बुधि बिद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार॥
Meaning: Cleansing the mirror of my mind with the dust from the Lotus-feet of Divine Guru, I describe the unblemished glory of Lord Rama, which bestows four fruits of life (Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha). Knowing myself to be ignorant, I urge you, O Hanuman, the son of Pavan! Bestow upon me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove all my miseries and blemishes.
॥ चौपाई ॥
1. जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर। जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर॥
Meaning: Victory to you, O Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue. Victory to the Lord of the monkeys, who is well known in all the three worlds.
2. राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा। अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा॥
Meaning: You are the divine messenger of Lord Rama and the repository of immeasurable strength. You are known as Anjani-putra (son of Anjana) and Pavansut (son of the wind).
3. महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी। कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी॥
Meaning: You are the great hero, valiant and possessing a body as hard as a thunderbolt. You dispel evil intellect and are the companion of good wisdom.
4. कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा। कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा॥
Meaning: Your complexion is like molten gold, and you are beautifully attired. You wear earrings and have curly hair.
5. हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै। काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै॥
Meaning: You hold a thunderbolt and a flag in your hands, and a sacred thread of Munja grass adorns your shoulder.
6. संकर सुवन केसरीनंदन। तेज प्रताप महा जग बंदन॥
Meaning: You are the incarnation of Lord Shiva and the son of Kesari. You are adored by the whole world for your great power and glory.
7. विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर। राम काज करिबे को आतुर॥
Meaning: You are highly learned, virtuous, and extremely clever. You are always eager to fulfill the tasks of Lord Rama.
8. प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया। राम लखन सीता मन बसिया॥
Meaning: You delight in listening to the glories of the Lord. Rama, Lakshman, and Sita constantly dwell in your heart.
9. सूछ्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा। बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा॥
Meaning: You assumed a tiny form and appeared before Mother Sita. Then, assuming a terrifying form, you burned down Lanka.
10. भीम रूप धरि असुर सँहारे। रामचन्द्र के काज सँवारे॥
Meaning: Taking a colossal form, you destroyed the demons and accomplished the mission of Lord Ramachandra.
11. लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये। श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाये॥
Meaning: You brought the Sanjivani herb and revived Lakshman. Overjoyed, Lord Rama embraced you to his heart.
12. रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई। तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई॥
Meaning: Lord Rama praised you highly and said, “You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat.”
13. सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं। अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं॥
Meaning: “The thousand-headed serpent (Sheshnag) sings your glory,” saying this, the Lord embraced you.
14. सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा। नारद सारद सहित अहीसा॥
Meaning: Sages like Sanaka, gods like Brahma, and great sages like Narada, Goddess Saraswati, and the king of serpents…
15. जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते। कबि कोबिद कहि सके कहाँ ते॥
Meaning: Yama (God of Death), Kubera (God of Wealth), and the guardians of the directions fail to describe your glory. How then can poets and scholars adequately praise you?
16. तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा। राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा॥
Meaning: You did a great favor for Sugriva. You united him with Lord Rama, which helped him regain his kingship.
17. तुम्हरो मंत्र बिभीषन माना। लंकेस्वर भए सब जग जाना॥
Meaning: Vibhishan accepted your counsel and became the King of Lanka; this is known throughout the world.
18. जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू। लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू॥
Meaning: Thinking it to be a sweet fruit, you swallowed the sun, which is at a distance of thousands of miles.
19. प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं। जलधि लाँघि गये अचरज नाहीं॥
Meaning: Keeping the Lord’s ring in your mouth, you easily crossed the vast ocean. There is no surprise in this.
20. दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते। सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते॥
Meaning: All difficult tasks in the world become easy by your grace.
21. राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे। होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे॥
Meaning: You are the gatekeeper at the door of Lord Rama’s court. No one can enter without your permission.
22. सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना। तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना॥
Meaning: Those who take refuge in you find all happiness. When you are the protector, there is nothing to fear.
23. आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै। तीनों लोक हाँक तें काँपै॥
Meaning: Only you can manage your immense power. The three worlds tremble at your roar.
24. भूत पिसाच निकट नहिं आवै। महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥
Meaning: Evil spirits and ghosts do not come near those who chant your name, O Mahavir (Great Hero).
25. नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा। जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा॥
Meaning: All diseases are destroyed and all pains vanish when one constantly chants the name of the brave Hanuman.
26. संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै। मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै॥
Meaning: Hanuman frees from all troubles those who remember him in thought, word, and deed.
27. सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा। तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा॥
Meaning: Lord Rama is the Supreme Ascetic King over all, and you easily completed all his tasks.
28. और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै। सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै॥
Meaning: Whoever brings any desire to you, receives the boundless fruits of life.
29. चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा। है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा॥
Meaning: Your glory extends across all four Yugas (eras). Your radiant fame is renowned worldwide.
30. साधु-संत के तुम रखवारे। असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे॥
Meaning: You are the protector of saints and sages. You destroy demons and are the beloved of Lord Rama.
31. अष्ट सिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता। अस बर दीन जानकी माता॥
Meaning: Mother Sita granted you the boon to bestow the eight Siddhis (supernatural powers) and nine Nidhis (divine treasures) to anyone.
32. राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा। सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा॥
Meaning: You possess the divine elixir of Rama’s name. May you always remain the devoted servant of Lord Rama.
33. तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै। जनम-जनम के दुख बिसरावै॥
Meaning: By singing your praises, one reaches Lord Rama and becomes free from the sorrows of many lifetimes.
34. अंतकाल रघुबर पुर जाई। जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई॥
Meaning: At the end of life, your devotee enters the eternal abode of Lord Rama, and wherever they are reborn, they are known as a devotee of Hari.
35. और देवता चित्त न धरई। हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई॥
Meaning: One does not need to worship any other deity; serving Hanuman alone provides all happiness.
36. संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा। जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा॥
Meaning: All troubles cease and all pains disappear for those who remember the mighty Hanuman.
37. जै जै जै हनुमान गोसाईं। कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं॥
Meaning: Victory, Victory, Victory to Lord Hanuman! Bestow your grace upon me as a supreme Guru.
38. जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई। छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई॥
Meaning: Whoever recites this Chalisa a hundred times is freed from all worldly bonds and attains great bliss.
39. जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा। होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा॥
Meaning: Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa will attain success. Lord Shiva Himself is the witness to this.
40. तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा। कीजै नाथ हृदय महँ डेरा॥
Meaning: Tulsidas is always the servant of the Lord. O Lord Hanuman, please make my heart your eternal abode.

पवन तनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रूप।
राम लखन सीता सहित, हृदय बसहु सुर भूप॥
Meaning: O Son of the Wind, destroyer of all sorrows, the embodiment of auspiciousness! Please reside within my heart along with Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshman, O King of Gods.
